Similar to my topic asking about the best .22LR pistol suppressor host, I also wanted to explore the best options for a rifle. Ever since I got into suppressors many years ago, the .22LR has always been a favorite, obviously because of the insanely low sound levels.
For that matter I’ve had a lot of 22 firearms over the years, always on the search for the best suppressor hosts.
For the purpose of this thread, I am really curious what you think is the best RIFLE .22LR suppressor host? Why do you like it? And have you encountered any issues?
For me, the Ruger Precision Rimfire stole my heart. I realize it’s absolutely considered a low-end firearm, but I really like it! I picked this up the first month they were released, and was lucky enough to immediately be selected to take part in the Timney trigger beta-testing. Essentially, I was given a fantastic Timney trigger at no cost before they were released to the public, to assist in final testing.
Downfalls? The only issue I have experienced thus far is an annoying “wobbly” magazine. This is an issue with all of these Ruger Precision Rimfire rifles (when using the larger 15 or 25 round mags), so it’s something you will need to expect and just deal with. While not a deal-breaker by any means, you just have to avoid riding the mag at all (putting any force on it) because if it mis-aligns a bit, you will have a failure to feed.
I did manage to find a way to improve the wobbly mag… You can buy an aftermarket mag plunger with a much stronger spring from KIDD and while you can still force the mag to tilt if you put enough force on it, it helps immensely and has nearly solved the issue for me altogether. Here is the link to the KIDD plunger FYI:
KIDD MAGAZINE LATCH PLUNGER AND SPRING
https://bit.ly/2SPR9oYOther than the minor issue mentioned above, it has functioned flawlessly for me. The sound level is the lowest of any .22LR firearm I have ever shot, largely in part due to the fact that this is a bolt-action.
Here are my customizations thus far:
- Timney RPRR Trigger
- Vortex Crossfire II 4-12×50 AO Optic
- UTG Recon Flex M-LOK(R) Bipod 5.7″ – 8″
- Lion Gears Tactical 0.5″ Slim Optics Riser 5″
- Magpul Angled Foregrip (AFG)
- Extended Magazine Release Lever (3D Printed)
