Recently, the director of the BATF admitted that they were making “copies” of form 4473s and bound books sent in by dealers and law enforcement background checks. This “copying” is an attempt to skirt around a COURT ORDER that requires them to destroy these records. A “copy” they contend is not the original and therefore not covered by the court order.
